Spiritual direction

In today’s fast-paced, distracted world it is rare for people to truly listen to us – to deeply listen and hold what we say without judgement and without giving advice. Spiritual Direction offers an opportunity to be heard … for matters of the soul to find breath with another in a safe and welcoming space.

Spiritual Direction is a prayerful conversation between two people, where one person invites the other to accompany them on their faith journey. The ‘guide’ listens carefully to the ‘pilgrim’ reflecting on his or her daily life experiences and both people seek to pay attention to the presence of God in the pilgrim’s life. The aim is simply to notice where God seems active or distant and in doing so, to deepen the pilgrim’s awareness of and relationship with Him.

Spiritual Direction is not about being ‘directed’, rather it is about being encouraged to draw closer to God. It is not therapy, counselling, teaching, mentoring or coaching. It provides a place to take seriously, your growing relationship with the Divine – to be encouraged in this and to become more intentional in it.

If you would like to meet with a Spiritual Director – either as a once-off during your personal retreat time or as a regular practice – please contact us via email or phone.
